Blue

• Pharaoh → Etham camp
• This ancient trading route is called Darb esh-Shawi, which likely means way of the heights.
• This route goes over road.

Red

• Pharaoh → Etham camp
• This route goes mainly trough streambeds of wadis (rivers)

Green

• Etham → Head of the Gulf of Aquba
• This route goes trough what was water but is dried up now.
• The ancient trading route went a little north of the green line.

Yellow

• Etham → Nuweiba Beach
• This route goes mainly trough streambeds of wadis (rivers)
• When God ordered Moses to turn, Moses took this route
  
  

Around the spot marked ‘Etham’ and especially the most northern quarter of the route going south; lots of bronze age artifacts were found. That’s an strong indication it was a good place to live which obviously means it had good access.

Num 33:7 And they removed from Etham, and turned again to Pihahiroth, which is before Baalzephon: and they pitched before Migdol.
