Not much is know about this site. So what follows is speculation.
Dophkah means strike or hammer in Hebrew.
Past the Desert of Sin/Hisma are two mining town with smelting ovens. Those towns are ancient but the age isn’t known. Other similar sites in the region date back to the thirteenth century BC. So possibly they did or didn’t exist at the time of the Exodus.
When metal is forged it’s hammered.
So it’s quite possible Shaghab/Sarab and/or Shuwak/Swek is what the Israelites called Dophkah.
The meaning of the word dophkak, really hints to a smelt.
